Aiden Alan Griffitts - July 2, 2009

Aiden Alan Griffitts was born on July 2, 2009 at 11:17 am. He is a beautiful little boy and is as healthy and strong as they come. He was 7 lbs 5 oz and 20 1/4 inches long. He has nice dark hair, my nose, and Jessie's mouth. And his best asset is definitely his....great set of lungs. The kid can scream when he wants to. He is a very handsome little baby boy.
This was his first diaper change. The nurses wanted one dirty diaper from him yesterday. He gave them three.

Jessie had her scheduled checkup on Wednesday afternoon. When we got there the midwife checked her and she was already dialated to 4 cm! We were all pretty surprised. A little after that she started having some contractions and they stayed with her for a while, so we figured, being as how she was already so far dialated, that we should go to the hospital. When we got there she was at 5 cm, so she had made some progress. She didn't make much progress during the night, so in the early morning about 7 the midwife broke her water. Things went pretty fast from there. By 10:30 she was pushing and at 11:17 he was here. She did amazing! I couldn't be more proud of her! She was so good. And she went did everything without drugs! She did it all natural! I was amazed! The nurses were bragging about her out in the lobby afterward talking about how well she did.
We really like the way the hospital took care of everything. We had some amazing nurses to help us with everything, and the midwife was awesome. As soon as he was born they gave Aiden to Jessie, and he didn't leave the room at all. After about an hour they bathed him really quick and gave him his shots, and then he was right back in Jessie's arms. The only time he ever left our room was last night at 2 in the morning when they went to do a hearing test. Although it was sad to not have him in there, Jessie and I REALLY needed at least an hour of good sleep. After they got him back at three he slept straight until 10, not even waking up for checkups or anything.

Poppi holding Aiden just a few minutes after he was born. This is right when they gave Aiden to Jessie. He is such a good looking kid!

This was right after they checked us into the hospital.

We are so happy he is finally here with us. We are incredibly blessed to have such a beautiful, healthy, and happy little boy in our lives. There is nothing that could make us happier. Thank you to everyone for all your support over the last nine months. Things wouldn't have been the same without you.

Oh I cry every time I read these baby announcements. It is such an amazing process...bringing a baby into the world...especially all natural! Amazing!! Don't let her taint your opinions about child birth! It is HARD!! :) Welcome to parenthood. He is beautiful.
